In cryptography, a method of encryption with the capability of providing perfect secrecy. The plaintext is encoded into numbers, usually binary, and a key stream of random numbers is combined with the plaintext to form the ciphertext. The receiving end is supplied with an identical key stream of random numbers, and the mathematical inverse combination of ciphertext and key stream reveals the plaintext.
