In VM, a mode of operation in which transient processing unit and main storage errors that are corrected or circumvented by hardware retry or error correction code logic are not recorded on the VM error recording cylinders. This mode is entered via the SET MODE RETRY QUIET command or after 12 transient machine checks have occurred while in full recording mode.
