A kind of I/O control that allows convenient interfacing with peripherals of varying response time. Control flags and jump condition inputs are useful to reduce hardware decoding and software overhead. If multiple devices are to be connected over the same I/O lines, three-state or open-collector TTL logic is often required to drive the bus. The microprocessor I/O circuitry should directly interface with these signals for most systems.
