In computer programming, a method of instructing the computer by showing it what to do rather than keying what to do. For example, instead of writing a lengthy and exacting description of the manner that information is to be formatted, for entry into or retrieval from a system, the user draws a corresponding visual representation by manipulating a cursor on a VDU screen.
